About me

Hi, Welcome I am Sami Pomper and I want to be a Pharmacist. I am currently a freshman majoring in math at The University at Buffalo, but I will be switching into the amazing Pharmacy program very soon. I graduate in 2024. Since the Pharmacy business is my future, I am very interested in the future of Pharmacy and what the new technologies will bring.

My topic

The topic I will focus and work on is “how new technology, specifically computers and robots are being used to improve the Pharmacy companies (specifically Pharmacists).” Along with new technologies there are many jobs that are getting taken over. In the Pharmacy business it seems nearly impossible for a computer to take over Pharmacist work. Since new technologies cannot take over the businesses, they will help advance it.

I think Pharmacies will want the robot that counts pills for he/she, so they can save themselves time. On the stressful days, it is better to have a machine count than a stressed person. Other people are definitely interested in what technology will do to our future. Sometimes technology can help, but it can also hurt. Some steps to help Pharmacists with the future is that their job will be easier. The pharmacist won’t have full responsibility anymore and can not make a mistake on counting their prescriptions.

Robots can help better patients to feel better by showing them they have a good Pharmacist. This means the machine will count all the pills and will know when some are missing, so you can tell the Pharmacist is not stealing. Since there is a pandemic now it will also make Patients feel better that there is not a Pharmacist breathing on their medications.

The questions

The robot will definitely not be able to hold every pill because that will cost too much money so, the Pharmacist will still have their job of taking the right pills and putting them into the machine. I need to know if these computers/robots are trust worthy. This means that there will be no error and all patient information stays safe and that the machine does not release documents to other Pharmacy’s for competition. If everything is good, hopefully the new technology will be an amazing change for the Pharmacy world.
